David and his brother Richard set up their first games company in 1982, Galactic Software, when David was only 16 years old.

In 1984 they received the Programmers of the Year Award from Commodore. In 1986 they started Codemasters with their father Jim.

The company has achieved many No.1 one hits. The first game Codies ever released, BMX Simulator for the Commodore 64, programmed by Richard and co-designed by David went to No.1 and stayed in the charts for so long, it received the longevity award from Gallup.

Their concentration has always been on satisfying gameplayers with superb game-play, innovation, and popular themes. EY, The Times and Citibank awarded David with the National UK, Entrepreneur of the Year Award, 2000.

Software Highlights from Credited Titles

David Darling's first video game work that SPOnG is aware of is the 1985 title, "The Last V8" (C64) as Lead Programmer.

David's most recent involvement was as Programmer on the 1985 release "Last V8, The" (C64).
