Gears of War 2 Soccer and Sore Nipples
Stoke City could just escape relegation from the English Premiership (the top 'soccer' league to our American cousins) - and the reason the club will pull this off is apparently due to playing Gears of War 2 rather than footy.

The Daily Mirror - curious about a goal celebration, which 'mimicked a computer game' - quoted Potters defender, Liam Lawrence because the celebration "involved him falling to the ground after (striker, Ricardo) Fuller pretended to shoot him".

Lawrence tells the paper that Gears Of War 2 "has done wonders for team morale as several Potters stars log on to the internet most nights to play against each other online." Apparently playing "the computer probably stops the squad going out on the town instead."

"The goal celebration comes from a game on the X-Box (sic). "It's a war game called Gears Of War 2, and I'm the best at it."

He also explains why Gears 2 is so useful, "It sounds stupid but we communicate like we do on the pitch. You can see the camaraderie. We're good friends so we stick together and we talk to each other at night as well."

Let's hope the game also helps Liam to man-up a little. Apparently the lad has problems with the team's away strip. He tells The Daily Telegraph, "The away tops are different material," he said. "They're jagged and rough. When you are doing all that running the nipples are killing you. Some of us feel it more than others – I guess some of us have got more pointy nipples!"

What would Marcus Fenix do?
