Summary

Yooka-Laylee was a bounce back in time to the 3D collectathon platformers of the N64 era. It was, let's not dance around it, highly and delightfully reminiscent of Banjo Kazooie. For the sequel, developer Playtonic has taken things back even further for a 2.5D Donkey Kong Country style romp to the generation before, with sidescrolling levels linked together by a 3D overworld that has puzzling elements of its own.

In Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair it's up to you, the player, to rescue members of Queen Phoebee's Royal Beettalion from Capital B. To do so you'll need to take on his most fiendish challenge yet... The Impossible Lair.

There are 20 different levels to beat, each with their own member of the Royal Beettallion to rescue. There's a twist, though - you'll find secrets and puzzles in the overworld that will activate what Playtonic is calling 'alternate level states'. Hook up electricity, flood levels with fast flowing water or turn them right on their head for a whole new set of levels to conquer!

Then come back for the logical conclusion of these skips back through gaming history - Yooka-Laylee and the Possible Pouch, which will actually just be a bag full of marbles...*

*(Not really. But it will be fun to see where Playtonic goes next!)
