Summary

It's time to explore new brand new frontiers of the Final Fantasy XIV universe with the arrival of the Shadowbringers expansion. This latest chunk of content takes players to a new dimension, known as the First Star, that's a reflection of the player's home world, The Source. There, you're tasked with something a bit unusual for a fantasy game - restore darkness to a world burning in a cascade of light. You must become the Warrior of Darkness and save a world.

The world is ethereal, drenched in pastel colours and, of course, beautiful. You'll explore new areas such as Rak'tika Greatwood, Amh Araeng and Il Mheg and encounter new beast tribes such as pixies, Nu Mou and dwarves while you're there.

So, the headlines: Shadowbringers lifts the level cap up to 80, for starters. It brings new dungeons and raids (including one designed around NieR: Automata), new zones, two new playable races (Viera, from the Ivalice games and Hrothgar, based on Ronso from Final Fantasy X) and two brand new jobs. The Gunbreaker is a new tank job based, happily, around the much-loved gunblade. The Dancer, meanwhile, is a ranged damage job, one of the classic Final Fantasy jobs that has yet to make an appearance in the MMO.

This boxed edition is a great way for new and lapsed players to get stuck in as it comes with not just Shadowbringers, but also the previous releases Heavensward and Stormblood.
