Summary

While the Harvest Moon series has been trundling along comfortably with a small but dedicated fanbase for years now, it's safe to say that not a lot of people were really expecting the boom in farming sims over the last few years. It's safer still to say that no-one was expecting that boom to lead to Slime Rancher.

Sitting somewhere between the fully-realised 3D environments of games like Farming Simulator and the cute quirkiness of Stardew Valley, Slime Rancher is a first-person game that has you farming... well, the clue's in the name!

You play as Beatrix LeBeau, a rancher who sets out to find her fortune a thousand light years from Earth on the Far, Far Range. As LeBeau, you'll head out to explore your new world and harvest slimes, bringing them back to your homestead where you'll rear them for their poop (yes, their poop!), the valuable resource known as plort. As you sell your plort, you'll be able to build up your ranch, gather new resources and build labour-saving devices that will further allow you to expand.

Slime Rancher is the blend of out-there science fiction, exploration, adventure and agriculture you never knew you needed.
