Summary

The Elder Scrolls Online is one of the standout examples of a game that can not just fix a few issues here and there post-launch, but actually get better and better with subsequent additions and improvements.

Following on from the game's Morrowind-led relaunch Bethesda has brought us the second massive expansion to The Elder Scrolls Online, building on the enhancements it made (albeit with a very different aesthetic and atmosphere). For the first time in an age (or since 1994's The Elder Scrolls Arena, for those of us who've been playing along since then) the elven isle of Summerset has opened its borders. At the behest of Queen Ayrenn players will journey to this fabled land to rejoin the infamous Khajiit spy Razum-dar, meet with the powerful sages of the Crystal Tower, and fight once again for Tamriel's fate.

Summerset is a massive new area for players to explore. Where Morrowind is a dark and brooding volcanic island, Summerset is a bright place of high magic and beauty. Players will encounter forests bursting with colour, tropical lagoons and brilliant elven cities, all populated with new characters to meet, stories to uncover and places to explore. Bethesda emphasises accessibility and the whole place is open to players new and old, regardless of level and experience.

Players wanting something brand new and exotic can join the Psijic Order, the precursor to the Mages Guild seen in other games from the Elder Scrolls series. These dimension-hopping magicians can teach you strange new techniques to manipulate time itself.

Also new this time out is the addition of a much-requested feature - jewelry crafting. Players can forge powerful new gear to boost their power and aid in their adventures.

A new (old) world awaits!
