Summary

Remember the Rollcage games of the late '90s?

No, perhaps not. Despite being somewhat eclipsed in the 'futuristic racing' genre by Wipeout, however, they're fondly remembered by a lot of gamers old enough to be fond of such things. The basic premise was that the wheels were so big that the vehicles could be flipped and just keep on thrashing along.

Following in Rollcage's spiritual tyre tracks is Grip, an aggressive futuristic racer that allows you to not only allows you to flip your vehicle but also drive it right along the ceiling of the game's many tunnels. Complement that with an arsenal of pick-ups that range from missiles to EMP weapons to shields and you've got a fast-paced game that positively encourages you to annihilate the opposition. It's the kind of racer that revels in insanely high speeds and leaves you a twitchy mess by the end of a few laps.

There are 22 tracks across four different worlds, nine power-ups and weapons, 19 point to point 'carkour' runs and 15 cars to choose from and speeds of up the weirdly specific number of 767 miles per hour. These are the tools at your disposal, and you can use them to destroy other players in online or split screen multiplayer, should you so desire.

In between races you can customise your vehicle and enter into arena battles, but destroying your opponents out on the track is the real heart of this beast.
