Summary

While indie developers have kept a steady flow of titles coming for PlayStation VR since launch, it's still good to see something a bit more full-bodied being released for Sony's swanky new PlayStation hardware.

Starblood Arena is a little similar to earlier PSVR titles such as Battlezone, RIGS and EVE Valkyrie in that it's a combat that deposits you inside some sort of vehicle and leaves you to shoot the stuffing out of your enemies. Perhaps the game is most resembles, however, is an obscure shooter from 1995 called Descent.

The game is a little thin on story, but the basic premise is that you're put into an arena and left to fight it out with other combatants as a form of intergalactic sport. You're in a small spacecraft, but unlike other dogfight titles you only move forward if you use the analogue stick to propel yourself. This allows for compact, complex maps that you can navigate through six degrees of gravity-free motion, offering loads of interesting options and strategies for combat.

There's a campaign mode for you to test your mettle against, but the real meat is in online multiplayer, with a host of modes like deathmatch, team deathmatch, a team goal-scoring game and a co-op mode in which you face off against wave aftrer wave of enemies!
