Summary

The Fire Emblem Fates games, between them, offer quite a unique proposition. The latest games in the Fire Emblem series both continue the franchise's blend of strategy and RPG elements, but they offer players a choice.

Raised as royalty in the Nohr kingdom, lead character Corrin's life is forever changed when they (what gender they are, as well as a host of other characteristics, are up to you) discover that they were actually born to the neighbouring land of Hoshido. S/he was kidnapped as a child from the rival land of Hoshido by the evil King Garon and now, with the two nations on the brink of war, Corrin must decide whether to side with Nohr or Hoshido.

Birthright and Conquest, sold separately, offer the player these two different paths with drastically different stories playing out.

In Birthright, players can take on Challenge Maps whenever it suits them to gain additional money and experience whenever they choose, making it a great entry point for players new to the series.

Conquest, meanwhile, contains a different cast and none of the Challenge Maps, offering a tougher progression for veterans of the Fire Emblem series.

Whichever path you choose, for the first time your customised avatar is the main hero. Guide your army through turn-based battles, balancing its abilities and building relationships. There's also a base-building element, and you can build your castle as you see fit while protecting it from invasion!

To further hone your skills, you can also go up against friends via local play or randomly matched players online. Throw in amiibo support and players have tons of content to sink their teeth into!
