Summary

The premise of the Smash Bros series is simple - beat down on your opponent in a sidescrolling brawler until you're ready to hit them with a smash attack and send them flying off the stage! It's not just any old beat 'em up, though. The roster is made up of fighters from across Nintendo's entire line-up of games, and some come from even further afield than that!

Brand new to the series will be Mega Man, Little Mac, Pac-Man, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y's Greninja (the ultimate form of Froakie) and more! Returning characters that are confirmed include Zero Suit Samus, Sheik, Yoshi and Charizard. And, of course, the game wouldn't be complete without series classics such as Mario, Link and Kirby.

As you play you can tweak your character to fit your own play style, customising their special moves and collecting equipment to strike just the right balance between attack, defence and speed.

Online multiplayer is, of course, present and accounted for with up to four players able to duke it out.

Super Smash Bros. Wii U is compatible with amiibo, Nintendo's new range of interactive figures released alongside the game. Working in much the same way as the Skylanders and Disney Infinity figures, with amiibos you can transfer data from your figure into the game, making it fight for you. As it fights it will learn, picking up new moves and skills as it goes. You can even customise it all by adding your own special moves!
