Down, Blue 32, Hut! The Madden NFL series has been the sporting game of choice for North Americans since... well, since the dawn of time probably. But, there is something tactical, something engaging, something beautiful in all of this that makes American Football interesting on a global stage too.

EA has been tinkering with the simulation physics of its Madden NFL games once again, to make a product that inches ever closer to the real thing. A new engine, called Infinity, has been implemented to allow for differing animations based on the mass, velocity and momentum of each play.

The heart and soul of real-life NFL broadcasts have also been captured and bottled into Madden NFL 13, with redesigned opening and a brand new presentation style that mimics the camera work and commentaries of an American Football match happening right in your TV.

A new Total Control Passing mechanic allows players to lead receivers into open space, while revamped physics means passing trajectories and quarterback dropbacks have all been tweaked. Defensive AI has been completely rewritten so that your opponents now read the plays and take appropriate action.

And if all the advances in the engine weren’t enough, the Connected Careers mode will give players the chance to create their own NFL star-in-the-making, and lead them to superstar glory! more
