Summary

Baseball games have never quite achieved the mass popularity of other sports sims like football, but they've been around since the 8-bit days and, in our opinion, more often than not made for some entertaining video gaming. This latest addition to Midas' budget range takes the concept of baseball games and gives it a bit of a player/manager spin, offering you the chance to take on the roles of both, well, player and manager.

As such, not only do you get to perform the usual duties of pitching fastballs and swinging for home runs, but you also have to get yourself into the dugout, from where you can give out player instructions, decide on tactics, and do other things like move your fielders around to get best arm on second base.

League Series baseball 2 features an impressive 4000 playable teams, each one of them fully customisable. Consequently, in each case it's up to you to choose the position of the players, set the training routines, and even choose the kit - not as simple as it sounds when you consider the fact that the game features over 800 different designs just for the socks.

There are three different single-player game modes on offer, giving you the chance to take part in a one-off quick match, enter a cup, or take on the ultimate challenge of the Series Championship. Alternatively, the game's multiplayer mode allows you and a friend to face off against each other to tally up the most home runs.
