Brought into the mainstream thanks to efforts from the likes of Nintendo's Mario Party and Konami's Bishi Bashi, the ever-popular party game continues to expand with Muppets Party Cruise on PlayStation 2 from TDK and Take 2.
Here, players can partake in a full-on party adventure by playing on a virtual board game that happens to be host to some 30 quirky and very playable mini-games. Party Cruise is a standard 1-4 player affair in which players can assume the role of some of their favourite characters, including Kermit, Miss Piggy and Animal, and there are also appearances from several other well known characters.
Mini-games such as Rhythm Mayhem, Shuffle Chalk and Bunsen's Burners are among the most popular. The controls for each and every mini-game are different, but they are also simple and extremely easy to master. And that's why things can get so competitive.
Overall, it's a simple case of move a few spaces, then play a mini-game, and so on. But it's all good fun, and the design of the boards is easy to comprehend and the graphical presentation is high quality. The Muppets have been around the block a few times already, and there's no sign of them letting up yet.
