Summary

Pokemon Crystal is the seventh game in the Pokemon RPG series from Game Freak and is to Gold and Silver, what Yellow was to Red and Blue. If this means nothing to you, the following will make everything Crystal clear.

Crystal is an enhanced version of Pokemon Gold and Silver and features all new Pokedex data and new puzzles. You can also play as a female trainer for the first time.

The main story follows the lines of the previous Pokemon titles fairly closely in as much as you have to travel around battling and catching wild Pokemon. Once you catch a Pokemon you can train it up for battle against other trainers and work your way up the Johto league.

Pokemon Crystal was due to be an online title and the first to make use of the Game Boy Mobile Adapter. This was achieved in Japan where players can trade Pokemon and enter battles and tournaments on the move. Unfortunately the Mobile Adapter was not released in Europe or America in time to make use of these features.

As with previous games in the series, Crystal is a game of rewarding patience. You travel the game world collecting and training and after some time you should have an array of pretty tough little pocket monsters. You can then link up with another player to see who has the strongest deck and the best tactics.

Crystal can also be inserted into the Transfer Pak on the Nintendo 64 enabling you to battle all your best Pokemon in glorious 3D.
