Summary

The recent spurt of Spider-Man games from Activision have proved immensely popular. In light of the upcoming Spider-Man film, a new game has been released for Game Boy Advance, and it looks fantastic.

Set in New York, the master of illusion, Mysterio has used his skills to take control of the Manhattan district. Assuming the role of the half-human, half-arachnid Spider-Man, your mission is to expose Mysterio’s plans. But beware, Mysterio’s mind-warping grip is difficult to avoid.

Like many of its predecessors, Spider-Man: Mysterio’s Menace is played in a 2D side-scrolling fashion. This classic method of gameplay will instantly appeal not only to older gamers, but to newer players looking for an uncomplicated challenge.

As a typical superhero, Spider-Man has a variety of special powers, such as wall-crawling and capture-webbing, and even an impact-webbing ability. Combat moves including Dive Kicks and uppercuts add to the Spider-Man experience further.

The level design is quite simple, comprising of a variety of themed environments in which you must use your skills to make it from one end of the level to the other. There are many platform elements in this game, but also a variety of puzzles that must be solved in order to progress. End-of-level bosses are inevitable, so be sure to top up your health before proceeding towards the end of the level.

Mysterio’s Menace is ultimately an old-style game that offers some classic gameplay and is thoroughly enjoyable and playable.
