Summary

In a land before time, the island of Mata Nui was a tropical paradise. Then a shadow fell across the island, a shadow known as Makuta. In the dark years that followed, the islanders put faith in a legend…a legend that foresaw the arrival of six mighty warriors: the Toa. For only the Toa would have the strength and courage to bring peace and light back to the world. As Mata Nui awaits the arrival of the Toa, a lone islander unknowingly begins a quest, a quest that will change Mata Nui forever. Enter Takua, our hero.

In order to summon the Toa warriors, Takua must seek out and find the six Toa stones that are scattered throughout the island. In order to accomplish this task, Takua must complete several tasks set over six environments. The gameplay is usually follows this formula. Character interaction will reveal sub-quests that need to be completed to progress.

Lego Bionicle gradually teaches itself to you over the first few levels. Your personally designed character has many skills that need to be mastered in order to solve the various puzzles. Takua can jump, throw stones and interact with the environments. An example of the puzzle-solving sees Takua needing to cross a river that is too wide for him to jump over. He must knock out a turtle with a stone so it can be picked up and thrown into the river. He can then use the turtle as a stepping stone.

Lego Bionicle makes good use of the new Lego characters and has a intriguing story that pushes along the action. An ideal game for the younger player.
