Summary

Those that thought London Racer was a unique game were sadly mistaken, but that’s not a bad thing. In conjunction with Infogrames, Davilex has produced a French equivalent that funnily enough takes place in France.

Titled Paris-Marseille Racing, this game takes you on a journey from north to south and back again, visiting a number of landmark locations along the way, such as the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. But beware, mad French drivers are lurking. Each of the race legs has been modelled accurately to the real-life environments, right down to park benches. Unfortunately, the strict French police are also true to life. In common with Infogrames’ Driver games, a major gameplay aspect of this Paris-Marseille Racing involves avoiding the police. Be prepared to employ devious tactics as you get rammed by the front end of a flashing vehicle. You can obtain speeds of up to 180kph, but along with speed comes risk of damage. If your car becomes critically damaged before the race ends, you will be forced to retry until your attempt is successful. Ultimately, to get the best performance out of your car, you must create a careful balance between race speed, risk and damage. To make things a little easier, you are free to tune and modify your car, whether for speed or reliability. You can finance these changes by winning races.

The journey to Marseille is a long one that poses numerous threats along the way. Do you know the difference between ‘tourner a gauche’ and ‘tourner a droite’? Bon chance!
