Summary

Your first step to becoming a professional virtual surfer is by playing Championship Surfer on the PlayStation. This is sofa surfing at its finest and you can enjoy all of the fun of riding the waves in your living room. Surfing is a lifestyle and now you can enjoy it without the wetsuit.

In Championship Surfer, there are eight different locations each with their own characteristics. In this game, you travel from beautiful spots in Hawaii to picturesque beaches in Australia. Learning how to surf is one thing, but adapting to the constantly changing ocean is what will make you the best. Breaks come in from both directions and the weather can change at any time. There are over ten professional surfers represented in Championship Surfer. Riders have a choice of six custom boards, each suited to the various wave conditions that you will encounter.

Extreme sports games usually require skill and showmanship. You won’t impress the judges by simply surfing into shore, they’re looking for tricks and smoothness of performance. It’s important to practice your stunts and be good enough to perform an impressive succession of tricks.

Championship Surfer has three modes of play: free riding, local challenge and island championship. Free riding is a no pressure way to develop your talent, local challenge is a one-event affair and island championship is a series of competitions. Surfing games are a bit of a rarity on the PlayStation and Championship Surfer is one of the better ones.
