Summary
Roswell Conspiracies, originally released on GameBoy Color, is based around the fictional goings on at Roswell, New Mexico. Some folks would have you believe that there was more than a little UFO activity there in the late 1950’s, and so, in Ubi Soft’s version of Roswell Conspiracies, allied intelligence agents discover extraterrestrial beings roaming the planet (Earth, that is). Most displeased with their stalking of humans for food and sport, a human underground alliance is formed. It is within the Global Alliance that you will meet the game’s playable and lead characters, Nick Logan and Sh’lainn Blaze.
As an Alien Detection Agent, updates as you make your way through the game are essential. This has been recognised well, and throughout the game the storyline is the main driving point of progression. As you wander around the all-new 3D world, you will notice how similar Roswell Conspiracies is to the Core classic, Tomb Raider. The 3D levels themselves are sparse for the most part, but they are well structured. Certain areas of the game challenge you to solve physical puzzles, whereby you must figure out the best way to get from one platform to the next, and then execute your plan successfully. But combat also plays an important part in the game. You will often find yourself up against a number of both earthly and unearthly creatures, including vampires and werewolves. Using both close combat and distance combat with weapons, you must take the initiative to work out which method works best.
Roswell Conspiracies offers plenty of variety in terms of gameplay and is presented in a stunning cartoon style. But most importantly, it’s an engrossing game that keeps players hooked.
