Summary

One of the best things about the Gameboy Color is that it’s games cannot rely on fancy graphics or music to sell. One element Games must possess is gameplay, they must be interesting enough to keep you amused and enough lifespan to make you want to play for ages. Back when the Gameboy was released in the late 80’s Tetris was THE game that was simply a must have. The Gameboy has enjoyed phenomenal success since it’s launch with worldwide sales of over 100 million. I believe Tetris is a big contributing factor to this. Tetris can be enjoyed by practically anyone, young or old, by gamers and non-gamers alike. Tetris needs very little explanation, different shaped puzzle pieces fall from above and when you fit them together to form a line, it disappears. The more lines that are completed the faster the game becomes and subsequently more difficult.

Tetris DX is a new colour version of this classic masterpiece with new gameplay modes to keep you entertained. It includes a marathon mode that is reminiscent of the original game where you try to attain the highest score that you can. There is also a 40 Lines mode where you have to complete 40 lines in the quickest time possible. The most enjoyable addition to Tetris is the new Vs. mode. In this mode you take on the computer (or a preferably a friend using the link-up cable) and it’s friendly competition time. Tetris DX comes highly recommended but be warned, sleepless nights and retina burn are not good things.
