Summary
Watching BBCTV's Going Live on Saturday mornings was a joy. The interplay between Phillip Schofield and Sarah Greene soothed your head and set you up for the weekend. As pioneers of the digital age, the Going Live team implemented videogames that were controlled by players at home using touch-tone phones. One such game was Hugo, a perky troll!
In this PlayStation game, Hugo must complete a variety of tasks in order to obtain as many sacks of gold as he can. Everyone knows that if there’s one thing a troll loves, it’s sacks of gold.
The first game is snowboarding. Hugo hurtles down a dug-out snow run on what looks like no more than a plank of wood. He has to scoop up bags of gold while avoiding giant snowballs. Hugo also performs tricks when he flies off the ramps and over obstacles. There is also a tobogganing level that features Hugo’s mysterious nemesis The Beaver. The game also sees Hugo collecting gold in abandoned mine shafts, castle ballrooms and spooky caves.
Hugo is simple to control and would be ideal for younger gamers. There is the option to play against another player or co-operatively as part of a team.
