Summary
Thrash Rally is a top down racer from SNK and one of only three games in the racing genre for the Neo Geo systems.
Now massively outdated, at point of release Thrash Rally was one of the better top down racers around and was undoubtedly the inspiration behind several other games that followed on the 16-Bit systems of the day.
The idea is simple: Race as fast as you can and reach the checkpoints before the timer runs out. This racing is interspersed with trademark SNK humour. We can heartily recommend running into an elephant as the interpretation of “angry elephant being hit by car” sound effect is a joy.
You get to choose between eight cars which look suspiciously like real rally cars of the day, the Lancia Delta seeming almost licensed with Martini branding splashed all over it. Remember the days when car companies were relaxed about video game licenses?
