Summary
Once upon a time Wii Sports showed a generation of gamers all the potential inherent in motion controlled gaming, recruiting millions of non-traditional gamers to the console in the process. Now, as Sony makes its big push to take virtual reality mainstream with PlayStation VR, PlayStation VR has a similar job to do. It's a collection of five games, each designed to show the player something cool that VR has to offer.
Ocean Descent is perhaps the game that best shows off the visual potential of PSVR. It doesn't even include use of the controls - it simply has players sit in an immersible as it descends to the ocean floor with a story unfolding around them and the beauty of the ocean surrounding them.
Danger Ball works a little like 3D Pong. Players must knock a ball past an abstract shape at the end of a corridor. By moving your head you can control your paddle, but be warned: your opponents have a range of special abilities that will test your skills.
VR Luge basically does what it says on the tin - you shoot down a course, controlling your avatar by moving your head.
Scavenger's Odyssey is perhaps the deepest experience of the bunch. You play as an alien scavenger attempting to steal a mysterious artefact from a strange monolith. This one seats you in a mech suit and has a traditional third-person control scheme that makes use of the DualShock 4.
Finally, there's The London Heist, which essentially throws you into an action-packed Guy Ritchie film, making use of two PlayStation Move controllers to allow you to interact with (and shoot at) the world!
