Summary

The first SteamWorld Dig game ended on a delicious cliffhanger (SPOILER ALERT!) - Rusty, the robot miner you'd guided through miles of dirt and danger, beat a terrible boss but found himself trapped in a cave-in. Luckily, help is on-hand in the form of YOU, guiding Rusty's pal Dorothy to the rescue.

This is a sequel that's very true to its predecessor while offering up plenty of new goodies to get you excited. It's an action platformer that sees you leaping and digging through vast, strange mines while dodging baddies and solving puzzles. As you progress you'll pick up new tools such as the grappling hook that will give you access to new areas, metroidvania-style, and with the liberal use of vacuum tubes for fast travel you'll be zipping all over the map to see which new areas you've unlocked.

While unlocking new areas to get through the game and save Rusty is plenty of fun, however, a lot of the game's charm is how you carve your own path. This isn't exactly a free-roaming game, but it does reward you for following your nose and some of the best puzzles can be found well off the beaten track, and there are prizes in abundance for those willing to take a chance on seemingly unlikely exploration.

SteamWorld Dig 2 is a game that delights in exploration, physics and creativity.
