Summary

No matter how many A.O.T. 2 screenshots you've looked at, nothing can quite prepare you for your first battle with a titan. These goggling, skinless giants are terrifying in part because of just how weird they are. If you're going to take on one of these bizarre beasts, you'd better have the right tools to do it.Fortunately, at its heart the Attack on Titan is all about sending you out into battle with some very cool equipment to take down these giants.

Based on the manga and anime it shares a name with, A.O.T. 2 follows on from Wings of Freedom in having you defend humanity from an onslaught of giant 'titans' using only pneumatic gas-powered technology. That technology has been an upgrade since the first game in the series, but the titans' movements have been enhanced too. Using the omni-directional mobility gear you'll launch yourself into the sky to slice and dice the titans. Targeting and timing are essential. If you get it right you might take a limb off one of your enemies. Get it wrong and the effect will be negligible at best.

Adding an extra layer of strategy to proceedings, on top of dealing with your own character you'll also need to direct a handful of comrades in combat. This is where the RPG elements feed into combat. As well as the usual mechanics of levelling up and acquiring new skills and gear, the relationships you form will impact battles. If you have strong bonds with your fellow warriors you'll be tighter and more effective as a unit. If the bonds are weak, you're going to be fighting an uphill battle that could see innocent civilians getting hurt.

You might only be an insect stinging at the hides of monsters, but that's what makes the struggle so heroic.
