Summary

Minecraft taught gamers how to build. First it taught them how to build a rudimentary shelter that would survive the night, then a house, then a castle, then eventually a computer. Dragon Quest Builders takes that impulse to create and shapes it into a story.

The citizens of Alefgard have been surviving attacks by local monsters, constantly on the brink of ruin, for decades. But their survival has cost them dearly - they've lost the ability to build. Absent one of mankind's most crucial skills, their world is in dire straits. Castles crumble, houses sit derelict, the people stumble through the remains of their once-great society.

That is until you, the chosen one, awake from a deep slumber. You, the one person still able to build. So you set to it! Things start small, fixing up a house or two, but the neighbours quickly hear what you've done and are drawn in to help. Before you know it you'll be teaming up with them to stave off monster attacks, building ever more extravagant structures and taking on ever bigger, more epic quests! Each new skill you learn leads to another, and with a sense of progression familiar to many traditions JRPG fans, you'll continue to progress to bigger and better things.

Dragon Quest Builders takes the principles of Minecraft and adds to them with story, drive, motivation and magic.
