Summary

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have been pulling out the stops to make sure there’s a whole range of titles out in time for the teasingly tardy launch of the PSP in Europe. Ticking all the boxes, they’ve made sure that early adopters won’t be wishing they waited a little bit longer, with such Euro favourites as Rally and F1 made available.

Of course, another sport we like to see a lot of in this part of the world is football and to this end, World Tour Soccer Challenge Edition is to accompany the European release of the PSP. The game features a whopping 200 international and club sides, all of which boast the officially licensed names and likenesses of all their players. Take control of one of these prestigious sides and lead them to victory and hoist a cup high in the air. As you progress you’ll unlock sides, competitions, and even new grounds to play on.

A theme for the new PSP is of course its wireless capabilities. Take on all-comers ad hoc and prove you’re the best. Of course, not everyone has a PSP, and the game offers another chance to prove you’re the best in the form of the innovative, titular Challenge Mode. Take it in turns to play a match and see who can rack up the highest score. But in a delightful twist, it’s not only goals that count in this competition. Everything you do will contribute to your score, with points dished out for flashy skills you’d normally reserve for the practice ground, as well prompt tackling, well worked passing and possession, and a decent rate of accurate shots.

If you’ve just bought a PSP and you crave football, then get your boots on - World Tour Soccer Challenge Edition is waiting for you in the tunnel.
