Summary

Extreme sports games, although popular on 8 and 16-bit platforms, were given a new lease of life with the birth of the 3D platforms of PlayStation, Saturn and Nintendo 64. There are now many games falling into this genre, ranging from Tony Hawks’ Pro Skater to Cool Boarders. Now Midway has released its own rendition the high-risk sport of BMX racing.

Officially licensed by Gravity Games, the action sports, music and lifestyle festival, Gravity Games Bike: Street. Vert. Dirt. showcases one of the more popular action sports to hit Xbox. In the game, players choose from various features with 21 unique riders including, amongst others, pro riders such as Dennis McCoy, Fuzzy Hall and Jamie Bestwick - whose signature moves and tricks were motion captured for the game.

Striving for the Gravity Games gold, riders must earn points in ten intense courses; each filled with a diverse array of challenges and obstacles. Players must also perform and master more than 1,400 distinct land and air tricks, including Front Flip, Decade Air, Flare, Bloody Booger, Indian Air, Bar-Spin-Disaster and No Footed Candy Bar. If any of those phrases mean anything to you, then you'll most probably be suitably impressed.

There are a grand total of nine game modes, including an assortment of two-player competitions. Gravity Games Bike is not exactly the most original game concept, but this vast array of modes and options should assure longevity and, knowing Midway, there should also be a fair few secrets to unlock along the way.
