nice fan fic, course usualy when someone soils their trousers in one of these it means something a bit ickier! ;)

enjoyed the review, havent gotten around to trying this out yet, but was honestly under whelmed by the demo, may have to give it a whirl now.

Svend: did you run this by managment before it got posted? i seem to remeber the ICO faithfull being picked on some time ago... i think this may count as a change of tune :D

The point we made previously was against the Ico "blindly" faithful. There are issues with Ico, it's not perfect.

Neither is Shadow of the Colossus, the camera can be awful, the controls can be unforgiving and the textures are too high res and give "glittering" effects on some surfaces.

However, the effect of the full game is awesome! I usually hate sequels to games like this, but I want to see this on the PS3, if only for the higher resolution and better texture handling.

Cheers for the good comments. :)

Yeah, I played ICO a few times and while I could appreciate it, I never really got into it. I can see where you're coming from on the 'turnaround' thing, but I only really mention ICO in direct relevance to Shadow of the Colossus, I didn't actually say that ICO was excellent enough to dispel any of SPOnG's previous editorial standpoints (I never really played it enough to get an assured opinion on ICO to be honest, lol ^_^). Was simply acknowledging that it won awards.

Shadow of the Colossus does have some drawbacks, as tyrion said. But it's the experience that ultimately knocks that out of the way. And as I said it's not for everyone - if you didn't get much joy out of the demo chances are you probably won't get much joy out of the full game. Having said that, the learning curve is great and makes for some quite inventive gameplay and methods for taking down the later monsters.

Mind you, I'd probably get pulled up more for dabbling in a spot of (gasp) 'new games journalism' in my review. Colossal. D: Still, at least I didn't care to do the whole review in that style. At least. XD

This and Guitar Freaks are the reason I'm trying to source a dirt cheap working PS2.

Then I'll get Soul Calibur III too. Mm Mmmm.
